i love old people
today was totally amazing. i went to a convalescent home with amy and danielle. now i love old people, but it is sometimes hard to just walk into a room and start a conversation, but that is what i had to do. i'll get back to that later, though. for - i don't know- maybe thirty to fourty minutes, i walked in a circle around the nursing home. she couldn't talk, but you could tell she knew what she wanted, because she definitely knew which direction she wanted to go. i also got to decorate for halloween for awhile. most of the time i spent talking to people, though. some conversations were hard, with lots of pauses. others, you couldn't understand one word, you just smiled and hoped you put the right remark in the right spot! there was one lady, alice, who was amazing. i talked to her for an hour and a half, i think. i heard some of the same stories a few times :) but she was really nice. here is what i got from her, though. she has brain cancer, or a tumor, or something like that, and is in the nursing home. she is very talkative, as most of them are, and would love to spend all day talkin to a nurse. she tod me this, though. she said that she never tries to talk to a nurse more than she can help, because she knows that their are other patients who need her more! how amazing is that? she was full of life and hope and happiness, in a place where i would probably be pretty depressed. oh, and i think she had 12 siblings, though i'm not sure if it was her or a different lady. but yikes! that is so many- and especially if you think that they were probably born before or durring the great depression. anyway, alice made my day, and is one of my new heroes :)

it is time for an update. what about, im not sure, but ill figure it out as i go.
today was good, i had gov for an hour and a half :[ i did go to its a grind with a few amazing people, which was fun. lunch was cool, i dont really remember what happened, but i remember the happiness part. all i had to do was read for english beowulf, which was interesting. i should also study for a math quiz, but blogging is much more interesting.
tomorrow:
i have yb for 1.5hrs, then i have ceramics for 1.5hrs. with the same teacher! but thats ok, i never see her in ceramics- i talk to ian the whole time, which is cool. im also about tostart a pot that i love. it looks amazing in my head, but well see how it turns out :) i love having a project im excited to work on- there is no better feeling. i also get out at like 1:10. hallelujah! i love off-campus.
i really want art for my walls. so if anyone wants to donate anything they have done lately....
there is a blood drive at school. i want to do it, but i guess im scared. but isnt that selfish? i mean, isnt it worth it to save someones life? wouldnt i want someone to do it for me??? im trying to convince myself.

im in love.
today was nice. english was cool, we didn't have time to do anything. the assembly was fun of course. obviously seniors won the first one, but it was just so awesome to see our class come to life again. everybody was really in the mood. ceramics was enjoyable, i talked to ian the whole time. lcb was good, mainly because i didn't have to read. math was cool. the guys were talking about shaved legs, and the lesson seems easy! i love math when i understand what is going on. government was blah, but at least i didn't fail the quiz.
then i came home, and went to get my oil changed. i took a stinkin hour and a half! plus, i need a new battery. oh well, it could be worse.
i did pick up a new book from kamille, and i saw an adorably friendly kitten. who looks like shes starving. kamille and her family are trying to fatten her up, though.
i came home and started reading, and then i heard my beth's voice! she only stopped by for a sec, but she dropped off a sweatshirt that i love. it is a beautiful green zip up, and it is so incredibly soft. i love love love it. but seeing her for only that short of a time is almost worse than not seeing her at all, if you know what i mean. it just made me realize what i am missing :)

9/11
"While the storm clouds gather far across the sea, Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free, Let us all be grateful for a land so fair, As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. " God Bless America, Land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her Thru the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, To the oceans, white with foam God bless America, My home sweet home.
